In the ItsYourNet conference call Thursday evening, Ken Stewart, CEO of ItsYourNet, LLC, shared a bit of information that was quite interesting to me.  Apparently the backers of the this US Wireless Internet company that will be launching with new technology in the near future, have been purchasing what is called Dark Fiber for some time in preparation for use in delivering the Internet through this new wireless technology.

What is dark fiber you may ask?  It is fiber optic cable that was installed during the Dot Com explosion that ended up not being used and was easy to purchase for pennies on the dollar.  Essentially “dark fiber” is fiber optic cable that is not lit up. So if you were wondering if they would have the fiber optic cable at their disposal to deliver on their promise of wireless internet as described in my previous blogs, now you know.

Essentially this new technology will connect to the Internet system through fiber optic cable and then transmit the signal via the airwaves to your computer. What this means is that there is no bottleneck for the bandwidth.  The air does not restrict the bandwidth like phone or cable lines so there will be no degradation of signal regardless of how many users are on line.  That is a big relief for those of us that are stuck in rural areas on extremely slow DSL (300 plus or minus kbs) or those that are still on dialup.

So get ready for a revolution in the communications industry.  Thankfully these signals will be able to penetrate buildings and even into the ground, quite unlike WiMax which is much more restricted.

We are on the verge of a complete paradigm shift regarding how we connect to the Internet and how we communicate by telephone. I was recently talking with a friend of mine who struggles with a very slow DSL connection in a rural valley that often has poor cell phone connection as well. His question was regarding whether this new Internet and mobile phone company would charge some sort of setup fee and require a contract? The answer I gave him was NO and NO! They even plan to provide the modem free of charge and the monthly cost of service for T-1 equivalent is only $19.95 per month

Ken Stewart, CEO of ItsYourNet, LLC, has told me that the VOIP phone service that can be bundled with the Internet service for an additional $9.95 per month is pretty much like what Vonage offers. The big difference will be the network since the new Internet Technology will make it possible to be connected with your mobile phone in a much larger coverage area than any current cellular service can offer.

Consider that Cellular is lucky to reach 8 miles from their tower and that is if there are no trees, hills or buildings in the way. This new technology is able to penetrate buildings with no sweat and even goes 20 feet into the ground. Apparently it is not as dependent on line of sight as cellular is either.

While everyone was waiting for WiMax to give us a world that is One Giant Hotspot, a new technology has been quietly developing that makes both WiMax and Wifi obsolete. Final testing on this new technology has proven the ability to transmit a full T-1 to T-3 equivalent broadband signal for over 30 miles without any degradation of signal. This signal penetrates buildings easily, unlike WiMax, and is able to penetrate into the ground for up to 20 feet making it the most available signal for office building interiors and those mountain retreats. Never has business been so easy to manage whether you are at home, on the road, in the office, or at that favorite get away retreat.

The latest news is that the mountainous terrain testing is exceeding all expectations with more than 20 miles being achieved.  Only the Iron rich areas remain to tested and that is nearly done. All systems are pointing towards GO and we are looking for some exciting announcements very soon.

The US based Wireless Internet Company that owns this technology is planning a D-Day launch late this summer or early fall. Currently a group of Investment bankers has pledged over $13 Billion to make this happen and are insisting that “We must have the company in 100% operation with all products and services in full launch this year.”

At last the Internet will be widely available to any and all at a price that anyone can afford. No longer do you have to struggle with that slow DSL connection in your hidden valley at home or with the slowdown of your Cable or DSL signal when everyone else connects at the same time. For less than $20 a month you can have full T-1 equivalent bandwidth any time with no degradation regardless of the number of users online. Also, the bandwidth allowed is the same for uploading as well as downloading.

The beauty of long range high speed mobile wireless internet is that you only have to pay for one connection to handle all of your internet needs for home, office and on the road. It does EVERYTHING better!  Of course if you need a full network at the office as well as at home due to multiple computers in both places, you would then need two accounts.

One exciting aspect that I see with this US based Wireless Internet company is that they are making this service available to pretty much anyone that can afford $19.95 per month.  There are no contracts to mess with, no equipment to buy and and no setup fees!  It isn’t often that you see a company that puts the customer first to that degree.  They obviously believe in their product and know that once you are in you won’t be wanting to go anywhere else.

On last week’s ItsYourNet conference call, Ken Stewart, CEO, was answering questions about the service and he mentioned that it is likely that even the PCMCI card for the laptops will be provided free of charge to be sure that they are competitive with anything the other companies are offering.

One thing nobody will be able to compete with is the coverage of this service.  Since they can cover the territory with only a fraction of the towers the others need and since their signal will easily penetrate buildings and even into the ground 20 feet, they will reach more people for less money than anyone else can hope to reach.

My strategy for marketing the mobile wireless Internet will be to work with a group of my personal affiliates to pool our resources for a massive campaign using a portfolio of methods with professional advertising companies.

I am currently researching various advertising methods to discover which may be the most effective for getting customers for the mobile wireless internet service and voice over Internet phone service that will be offered.

Considering the fact that we will be offering a service that is without competition it is likely that anyone who uses the Internet will be a strong candidate. So far, I have yet to talk to one individual who is a regular Internet user that has not responded with, “Sign me up asap!”

Some of the advertising media we are considering and researching for best companies to work with are:

• Telemarketing to businesses and consumers
• Traveling billboards in cities of high population
• Radio Talk shows
• postcards
• email to targeted lists with paid permission email marketing
• print ads such as newspaper and magazine

In all cases mentioned above the combined resources of my group will allow me to negotiate rates that are significantly lower than would be available with the resources of only one of us. In one case alone the rates drop from $30 per hour to as low as $9.50 per hour.

I have had experience with running ad coops in the past and have the systems in place to set up the necessary rotation scripts and landing pages. The landing page will be on this domain and I am currently using this for a blog in order to get it indexed by the search engines so we can also benefit from organic search as well. I also have similar domains registered such as onegianthotspot.com and gianthotspot.com so if a prospect hears the ad on radio and isn’t sure how it is spelled they will still find us.

My best predictions at this point for the return on investment for our campaigns is somewhere between 50% to 100% return of original investment in the first month. Since these sales are repeat sales this will be a monthly income and a 50% return would turn into a 100% return in 2 months. Based on a 50% return, one would be able to use the commissions for the second month of the coop and cut the investment in half and by the third month, the advertising campaign would be sustainable with commissions alone.

If we do see a 50% return, then an investment of $1000 per month would require only $1500 out of pocket and by month 4 would yield profit that would increase at the rate of $500 per month. By the end of one year this would yield a $6000 per month income.

Considering that this US based Wireless Internet company plans to spread out over the US in one year, we would follow them with our targeted advertising and should see the same results for at least one year. My belief is that we should be able to generate the same return on our advertising for a period of 2 to 3 years and then it would taper off as it saturates the market.
